In A Word: Music
Music has always moved my soul in ways that are indescribable. The sounds of the bagpipes and the flute carry me across oceans, over rich green valleys, and into the lush forests of the mountainsides. The sharp sounds of the brass horns rally my spirit for battle while the soothing melodies of the strings and woodwinds lull me off to sleep or bring tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. Music can be series, adventurous, humorous, and mysterious all at once.
There have been many players in our time and in times past. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Handel's Messiah as well as the works of Mozart, Bach, Chopin and many more flow throughout history. Composers at work today captivate and mesmerize through the unexplainable way they use song to express emotion, energy, and life in a single melody. A movie cannot tell the story without the emotional pull and movement of the music. Howard Shore's masterpiece in the Lord of the Rings set hearts pounding, created streams of tears down the cheeks, and ignited a sense of passion, adventure, and longing in the spirit.
