Do You Want to Grow?

Beautiful Snow Day

I just have to share these thoughts from this morning's devotional reading. Well, actually they aren't from the devotional reading that's why I'm sharing. I'm currently reading an updated version of 'My Utmost for His Highest' and each day has a title and a verse at the top of the page. Today's verse is from John 6:67 which says "Do you also want to go away?" But that is not what I read at first glance.

In my haste to start the day, read the devotional and continue on, I read "Do you also want to grow?" It immediately stopped me in my tracks because I'm just entering a time of growth in my life. I've been convicted about the amount of time I spend in God's Word, in prayer, and in quiet times listening to His voice. I've been going through the motions and sometimes not even that.

"Do you also want to grow?" Yes, Lord I do. I know you have changes approaching in my path and I want to be ready for them. I want to follow you, choose the right path, make the right decision and bring honor to you. I want to be shaped and molded in the Lord (even though it may be painful). I want to grow.

With that thought in mind, I’m going back to my reading with the conviction to slow down and chew on His Word and let it sink in so I can apply it at every moment. I encourage you to do the same.

Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk,
that by it you may grow up into salvation.”
